Now we are back in the Chicago area, the kids are in school, and Jennifer and I are engaging with both new and old interests. But, all four of us have opportunities to reference the trip often. We’re giving presentations about the trip to local community groups. We share daily memories of our exploits as Team Real Life. We talk about good friends we met along the way and joke about boat ant infestations and “tank taste” water.

One of the most rewarding take aways from the trip for Jennifer and me might be when Madeline talks dreamily of our next big family sailing trip. When that one finally comes around, though, she and Zach will be grown.
