Hurricane Isaac blows by

By Kevin

Tropical Storm Isaac was forecast to sideswipe Miami and Fort Lauderdale, where we have Real Life all buttoned up, waiting out the storm.

Instead of waiting around to get slammed, we headed up to our beach house in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. This small surfing town is on an atlantic coast barrier island just a few hundred miles north of Fort Lauderdale.

The following video shows the nasty surf conditions and ominous clouds we got in front of our house. Fortunately, this was the worst of it.

  1. Glad to hear that all is well. I’ve been thinking of you guys each time the weather was on. I assume the Real Life was also okay?-SP

  2. I’ve been thinking of you guys and hope all is well! Can’t wait to follow along on your adventures here 🙂 Miss you!-Steph

  3. Hi Scott,Yes, it was pretty uneventful at least here in south Fl. We were a bit worried about the boat but it was fine, once we got back down to Fort Lauderdale to check on it.Neighbors on the dock said the winds didn’t get above 30 mph, which is equivalent to a very brisk sailing day.

  4. Hi Steph!Nice to hear from you! Here in Fort Lauderdale there’s been a big thunderstorm every afternoon — nice because it cools things off! Keep in touch. I hope all is well with you Missouri. Miss you too!
